This week we are going to talk about this school/modality of yoga that is becoming so fashionable today. Hatha yoga is known for the work of asanas (postures that provide firmness and elasticity to the muscles) and pranayama (breath control that favors meditation). It was created by the yogi Suatmarama in the 15th-16th century.
Its objective is to improve mind and body control and it is based on smoothly and slowly changing from one asana to another.
Once again, this yoga school originates from India, as we well know the cradle of yoga and also the cradle of our products, inspired by the great yogis and yoga schools along with the best qualities and always up to date.
The discipline of Hatha Yoga has evolved over the centuries and years and has adapted. Today, we can highlight sama yoga or relaxation yoga and the sun salutation, which are the best-known exercises of this discipline.
Hatha yoga has become the most practiced discipline worldwide and is the most common practice when practicing yoga in gyms or specialized centers. Ultimately, it involves performing postures while controlling breathing and introspecting our inner consciousness, although often this last part has been somewhat neglected and barely taken into account. The most interesting thing for many people is that it provides a way to get rid of stress.
In recent years, hatha yoga has been making its way and different variants or styles have appeared such as Iyengar Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Bikram Yoga. Although all of them may have different approaches or styles, their goal and objective is the same: the union of body-mind-spirit through asanas, pranayamas, and meditation.
Yoga is a path that must be traveled step by step, small but firm steps cultivating patience and respect for oneself and for others, as a learning process, a path to our innermost self, our consciousness.
One of the common beliefs is "I can't do yoga because I'm not flexible." This belief is totally false, as anyone can practice this discipline. The good thing about yoga is that it adapts to each individual's level. It is centered on the ancient Indian tradition, with the goal of learning to breathe correctly and removing attention from mental clutter while doing yoga postures.
It is always said that yoga has many benefits, and so it is. With hatha yoga, specifically, body relaxation and stress reduction can be highlighted, but at a corporal level, increased flexibility, muscle strength, toning, improved body posture, and a long list of benefits that help not only the physical body but also the mind can be highlighted.
If you haven't yet ventured to discover this discipline and the great benefits it offers you, don't wait any longer. Surely in your city and specifically in your neighborhood or nearby there is a specialized yoga center where you can learn, challenge yourself and prove to yourself that you can.
